I was debating whether to title this blog entry "what was I thinking," or "we made it," or the "party was a success!" All of which are true. I think the girls all had a wonderful time! Miranda (Schuyler's 9 year old friend and a huge helper to me) asked all the girls this morning at breakfast what their favorite part of the party was. The responses were breakfast, the presents, watching a movie, painting nails, making the goodie bags, cake, and making pizza! And that pretty much sums up our party! Miranda said her favorite part was reading Schuyler this cool new fairy book she got (sweet, huh?). I said my favorite part was breakfast because all the girls were together, fairly quiet, and enjoying each other (not to mention it was the first time I got to sit and eat). We joked that my favorite part would be at 10am when the party was over! Curtis said his favorite part was watching Schuyler make her wish and blow out the candles.
The slumber party was great and manageable. All the girls got along perfect! We had 10 girls (including Mo and Sky) stay the night. I thought I would lose some of them during a late movie, but that was not the case. At 10:30 there were only three asleep and I had to say lights out - they were all asleep about 15 minutes later! We were down to 9 girls by the morning (one left at 3:30am after waking up crying and wanting her Mommy). From left to right: Schuyler, Cali, Sloan, Jade, Cassie, Bree, Gabby at the feet, Miranda and Morgan on the couch.
From the back, clockwise (enjoying a breakfast of cinnamon rolls, fruit, and scrambled eggs): Curtis, Graydon, Morgan, Sloan, Schuyler, Miranda, Cali, Gabby, Cassie, Jade, Bree.
What was I thinking though? Everyone kept telling us that we were brave to have a sleepover with so many girls. But the challenging part was that we combined a party and a sleepover. At one point we must have had 20 adults and 25 kids in the house all doing a 'make your own pizza' dinner. Note to self (and strong advise to everyone else), DO NOT have a make your own pizza party. It might have been okay if it was just just 10 girls, but not adults and all the other kids. It was an ordeal! I have the best friends ever! I don't know what I would have done without Sarah, Micka, Nichole, Kristall, and Tammy! They helped out tremendously in every aspect!
Kristall made the cake to be like the birthday invitations, and it turned out REALLY cute! Thank you Kristall!
All in all a huge success! It was off to a rocky start though, Schuyler stayed home from school on Friday with a slight temperature and after having a stomach bug on Friday night! Saturday morning she was doing okay so we proceeded with the slumber party!
