Guest Post: Sharon and "The Pan"

Ever since I had met Curtis he has been traumatized about the Peter Pan and Kermit the Frog Halloween outfits, so in lieu of the upcoming holiday I thought I would post. Here is a picture of Curtis in the Disney store posing for a picture that he sent to his Mom titled "The Pan Is Back". Poor Sharon, she will never live it down. And below is Sharon's recollection of the memory. We now have the original outfit, and I had intentions of putting one of the girls in it for a picture, but haven't. Curtis was 6 and Bryan was 3 at the time. We were living in Denver and Curtis was attending 1st grade. My Aunt Jerry always inspires me to be creative, so I sewed this cute little Peter Pan outfit. I was so proud of it and how cute Curtis looked! Bryan is wearing a costume Jerry made for her kids several years earlier. Curtis rode the bus to school every day, and on Halloween day, I sent him to school wearing his Halloween outfit. There was never a note sent to let us know what the process was, so I presumed it was the same as when I was in school and the kids got to wear their costumes to school and keep them on the whole day. Well it appears this was not the case at Cherry Creek schools... bummer... strike one! Well later that year we moved to Great Bend Kansas. Curtis was attending St Patrick's grade school as a second grader. This year we recycled the out fit to be Kermit the Frog. Again, no info , and again... I took him to school as Kermit the frog, ( without a green face at least!). Thus the trauma..... poor Curtis... he probably still doesn't like green....
I love the simplistically carved pumpkins, the plastic candy pumpkin buckets, and the balls of candy popcorn that you can see in the background (oh, and of course I love "The Pan" - or wait.... is that Kermit the Frog?). - Heather
