Burke Tidbits!

Schuyler random:
Schuyler was eating pop rocks for the first time in a long time she wasn't sure if she should swallow or spit them out, so she wrote the question down on a piece of paper since her mouth was full - I thought it was so cute, and a sign of how big she is getting since she can write so fast to express herself!

Although she currently achieves close to perfect in school, is reading and writing so well, and is so creative - sometimes we wonder about her. :-) Her knowledge and concept of time, numbers, and money has a lot to be learned. The frustration was first felt when I had an hour long lesson with her on the understanding of coins and she still didn't get it. And here are two other recent incidents:

Schuyler just doesn't get the concept of time. So usually our time relates to programs. A recent conversation went something like this:
Sky: How long until Sawyer gets here?
Mom: About 45 minutes.
Sky: Is that a long time?
Mom: About 1 and a half programs.
Mom: (Semi-kidding) When are you going to grasp the concept of time? Other kids in your class get it.
Sky: (Totally serious) Well, maybe when I am in the 100th grade!

Schuyler looked out the window and said something about the "ocean". We thought to our selves, huh - how can she not know it is a lake? So we said, "is that an ocean or a lake?" She thankfully said lake! Then we said, "do you know what the differences are between a lake and a ocean?" We have discussed the differences before, so we were hopeful for correct answers. She said, "the ocean has scary monsters in it!" Well, okay, sharks? We asked if she knew another difference and she said "it is okay to pee in the lake!" We then proceeded to have another lesson in body of waters.

She did FINALLY learn how to tie her shoes!!!!! YEAH!!!

Other random:
Does it mean you are ready to potty train when you say "change me Mommy, change me!" Graydon totally gets the whole process, but he refuses to potty train. I am hoping when the weather is warmer he will warm up to the idea! Right now he WANTS to wear diapers! This was expressed recently when I was showing him some cool underwear he has, and he proceeded to take them one at a time and throw them down the hall!

There was a short period of time when Morgan said "What the hell?" when she was perplexed. She hasn't said it in a long time. She continues to crack us up all the time!
