Down to one car.......

So this week we have been a one car family. I don't think I had previously mentioned it, but in November hours before our Kansas road trip I wrecked the truck. I was going about 1/2 a mile an hour and scrapped up against a rock pillar (really damaging the pillar). We finally got in the shop to get it fixed. Amazingly having one car has worked out fine even with our busy schedules. Perks to Curtis working at home three days a week! See in the picture how the pillar is turned and barely attached. The is at the church where I now work!

I use to be semi-anti-DVD-in-the-car and had stated that we would only use it on longer trips. However that was quickly thrown out the window. I actually think it is a much safer ride if the kids are focused on the DVD and not constantly bothering the driver or each other. I thought the kids would miss the DVD player more than they do, but we have really enjoyed jamming out to music! I will be a little sad to have it back.

Other happenings:

• I started my new job this week - it went well and can be a future post. Certainly pros and cons of having my child in my class - but where else can you go to work and snuggle your child during their nap?

• Schuyler received a "Valueable Viking" award this week for "Fairness" while "being considerate while waiting for her turn."

• Curtis attended "Daddy and Donuts" day at Morgan and Graydon's school.

• Schuyler completed her first chapter book all on her own - "Junie B. Jones and a little monkey business." She read it in like a day and a half. I can't believe how sassy Junie B. Jones is. I have never heard the word dumb or stupid so many times, and I am not sure Schuyler will be reading her anymore.

• Hershey had a vet appointment and is in the clear of any diseases.

• Graydon's chicken pox (or chicken pops as Sawyer said) were very mild and are down to a few scabs.

• While eating M&Ms (as Hershey enjoyed a dropped one) Morgan said, "M&Ms have chocolate in them, just like a chocolate lab!" I said, "do you think Hershey tastes like chocolate?" Her reply was a confident "yes!"

Congratulations on the job!! (I got behind in my blog reading....) Glad they don't fire you for driving into pillars.
;-)

I agree with you about Junie B. Jones, having reminded Abigail that she is not to talk the way Junie talks.

Hope everyone is well.
