What the..........

We went to the pool for Curtis' lunch hour and when we got back I walked onto the deck to hang our wet towels. I immediately noticed something different - a better view. I had a stunned, perplexed look on my face and mouthed "what the ....." to Curtis who could see me from his desk. He immediately saw what I was referring to, and we both looked over the railing to discover our huge three story oak had fallen.
For those of you who may not remember the huge tree, this was the best picture I could find. It really was about three stories, and provided extra shade on the deck while not really obscuring our view. The base of the tree was about two foot in diameter.
All and all we really do have a better view now. It was a tree that we would have never cut down, but are not to disappointed that it is gone (other than the logistics of getting rid of it). In hindsight it looks like this may really have been a limb to the main tree (we never noticed the cut stump), and that there was just no root system to support this massive tree. It really is crazy and we are still waiting for the shock to wear off!
I will miss lying in bed and watching the squirrels go up and down the tree - it has also been known to house a possum (which has been shot at with a beebe gun), doves, and cardinals.
