Birthday Weekend!

I had such a wonderful birthday weekend! Janiece and JD picked Sharon up at the Houston airport on Friday and drove to Austin for the weekend. For those of you that don't know, I LOVE having my mother-in-law around. She is like the calm after the storm. The sunshine after the tornado. When she is visiting, I will see a room that the kids have destroyed, and ten minutes later go back and it will be clean. It is like magic. I don't know how she does it, except for lots of practice raising three kids of her own! Don't get me wrong, my other mothers are awesome as well, but Sharon is like a female version of Curtis - always on the go, but instead focusing on boy things, she is a little more domesticated! And, it is always great to have Janiece around, even more so now that JD, Sawyer, and Graydon are the Burke boy trouble trio! And when Janice is around, her best friend Jenny (more like our sister) is also around! To compliment a wonderful family birthday weekend, my good friend Sarah and Curtis planned a birthday party at our house! Yes, I had to clean before and pick up a bit after (whatever the calm sunshine and others didn't pick up), but it was really worth it! To be surrounded by most of my cherished loved ones was great!

You can see in this picture that Schuyler is wearing a cape.... it was mine when I was her age and it came from Spain. She wore it for days and got compliment after compliment about it. I had to put it away, because all the strings kept coming off and I would find them all over the house! It is always such a busy quarter with Christmas and New Years ending and all of our birthdays occurring (except my Graydon), that I procrastinate with everything and can't make decisions or a definite plan. Two days before Morgan's birthday I still wasn't sure what we were doing. Just in case, on my birthday party night Kristall had made Morgan (and me) a beautiful cake and she was also surrounded by her best friends. We ended up doing something else for her birthday (blog to follow), but she felt like an extra special birthday princess with so much fuss about her! Here the kids are eating Morgan's cake!
And here we are getting ready for my cake. Even though there were probably 25 adults there I was still surrounded by the kids with my cake and presents!
The weekend continued with a fun cousin Sunday..........
* Graydon keeps getting this really shy look. Any time he is confronted by someone a little out of his ordinary he repeatedly blinks his eyes while looking away with his chin to his shoulder.
* He calls every truck and moving thing is a "trash truck", which also sounds like "tractor" and "thank you". He likes "Bob B" otherwise known as Bob the Builder. Gets beside himself to go on the golf cart and is just so awesome he lights up our lives!
