Schuyler had bug week at school, so they requested that we bring in anything that we find - and oh boy what we found (although not a "bug")! This morning Schuyler and I were standing on the front steps putting her hair up as we rushed out the door to school. I look in the corner and calm as can be said, "oh look, a tarantula!" After all, doesn't seeing four tarantulas in two years alleviate the panic mode? Some of you may remember the first time I saw one (second picture)….. that one was as big as my hand - I was in total panic mode, flagging down a neighborhood worker to help me (laughing now at how ridiculous I must have seemed)! Now that I am a practiced tarantula captor, this little guy (nickel size body) didn't phase me to much (although I don't like that it was on the front step - again). We grabbed a clear shoe size bin, Curtis scooped it up, I put the lid on as Curtis said, "wow, you have a brave Mommy," we grabbed the duct tape, and rushed off to school! I think the school is going to be able to keep it in a terrarium they have in their main corridor (along with a dozen other tanks filled with fish, alligators, iguanas and other cool things)!* Fun times!

* They didn't end up keeping it at school, so Graydon, Sawyer and I went down to a field today and let the tarantula go. We watched it for a long time, then drove away on the golf cart while Graydon yelled "bye-ee tran-tua", and Sawyer yelled "bye, bye ta-ran-ula". I had to switch from saying 'bye spider' to 'bye tarantula' because when Sawyer said 'spider' and it sounded like 'Schuyler'. I didn't want him saying later that we let Schuyler go at the park! They were really cute!

Again, what a great write up! And how brave you were this time! I love the Sawyer and Graydon part.
Love you,
