Opening Day for the Bees!

Schuyler is playing her second year of tball with a mixed team of 4, 5 and 6 year olds. I am one (of four) assistant coaches and we are already on our fourth or fifth game. As with any sport we have been involved with, I am already ready for the season to end! It is quite the ordeal to get a family of five to the field, and coordinate breakfast or dinner on game and practice days. Also having the Bees practice coinciding with my soccer games is a juggle! It is fun though! Our team is the Binghamton Mets (from what I have researched anyway), but we just call them the "Bees". Here is a picture of most of the team on opening day getting ready for the National Anthem.

Schuyler and her good friend Gabby with Spike the Round Rock Express mascot who threw in the first ball.
And one of my favorite pictures from last season......
Although I really had to twist her arm to play, she has really improved from last year. I think her knowledge of the sport, coupled with being one of the older kids, practice with our tee, gym class experience, and a year worth of general life experience has really made her more well rounded! She played pitcher in the last game for one inning and had six grounders come to her, all of which she fielded and accurately threw to first base. The next inning she played between first and second, and I loved the play where she was standing about two feet from first base, fielded the ball, and instead of stepping over and tagging the bag she was nudging the oblivious first baseman to take the ball. Of course it is fun to watch the kids hit the ball and run to third, or for the whole team to do a dog pile on the ball. There are four tball teams in Lago Vista and we know all the other coaches and a lot of players - which is neat. Curtis has been a saint taking Morgan and a usually crying Graydon during practice and games - nothing a ring pop hasn't been able to rescue!
