Cutie Pies

Morgan was doing a matching page in a book where you had to match what things are made from. She had to match french fries to potatoes, jam to strawberries, popcorn to corn, and ice cream to milk. She said, "what is ice cream made from? Cherries?"

Morgan is learning a lot about words and she will say, "I know how to spell polar bear...... Pol-ar-Bear" or whatever the word happens to be. Or, "Mom, Sun spells Sun chips" or "Abby is in Gabby!" All so confidently and matter-of-fact! She says camote control for remote control, fridge-der-rator for refrigerator, and magnick for magnet. She is starting lose some of these innocent mispronunciations and it makes me sad. We had a birthday party for someone and Morgan said, "if you want cake follow me!" She does continue to say the cutest things all day long, I wish I could remember more.
Graydon really does have quite the vocabulary..... I would probably have to translate for you on half of his words, but he knows many, many basic words. Some of my favorites are as follows:
Graydon dictionary
  • High = He wants to swing (Morgan always asked to be pushed high, so that is his association)
  • La La = He wants a drink
  • Trash truck = ANY kind of truck
  • Helicop = Any airplane or helicopter
  • Bob B = Bob the Builder
  • Cars = Any TV program, especially the Cars movie, or his favorite show Metor and the monster truck
  • She She = Hershey
  • Tweet tweet = Bird (actually he really uses any sound instead of the animal)
  • Pop Pop = Lollipop, but also uses the word candy quite often (followed by a lot of crying if he doesn't get his way).
  • Crack = Pretty much any food or cracker
  • Oud Pup Peep = Good Puppy - Graydon LOVES Hershey and is constantly huggin' him and lying on him. I always tell Hershey what a good puppy he is (you should see what he tolerates), so now Graydon tells him the same much cuter version!
Schuyler wrote on a piece of paper:
  • I love al uf my teethrs = I love all of my teachers
  • My fafrit snak is kookees = My favorite snack is cookies
  • My Mom and Dad is sum tims meen = My Mom and Dad are always so nice

When I asked her about the paper she said, "I said sometimes!" I tried to explain to her that if we are mean or set limits it is because we love her, not because we want to be mean. I tried to give her an example that if we let her eat all the sweets she wanted she would be unhealthy, so we set limits..... she did not get it.

One day Schuyler said, "Mommy please help me, Graydon is taking over the world" while he interfered with her toy set up. We had a 41st birthday party for my friend Micka and had a four candles followed by a #1 candle and Schuyler said, "are you 14?" I think Micka gave her a hug!
Schuyler wrote another book, which I thought had a really nice ending. It is also very nicely and colorfully illustrated. "Ronee and the ting that she can dow" = Ronee (who is a fairy) and the things that she can do.
  • She can trow wotr, splat! = She can throw water, splat! (and has a picture of a fairy throwing water on a spider web).
  • She can hlp the cweena = She can help the queen (and has a picture of a fairy on a big bird heading to a castle).
  • She can wrk at the stor = She can work at the store (a beautiful fairy with a shopping cart and shelves of food).
  • She can be prod uf hr slfue = She can be proud of herself (a fairy in a pine tree forest).

I hope this blogging captures all the unique individualism, character, and development of these three wonderful children, and the love that we have for them!

"sum tims meen = My Mom and Dad are always so nice"
LOL!

I try having the same talk when Abigail grumps, about why I say No sometimes. Or "almost all the time," if you ask her. Someday they will thank us!

They're so cute. Have you ever thought of recording them speaking? I have a tape somewhere of my around Graydon's age.

Hey! thanks for your message! I laughed when you were "interpreting" schuylers book, very cute! Sloan made a book too, if I get around I will post it so you can see how similar these 2 cutie pies think/write.
