1st day of 1st grade!

"Twas the night before school, and as they prepared, the Burke kids were excited and a little bit scared. They tossed and they turned about in their beds, while visions of school supplies danced in their heads. Erasers and crayons and pencils galore were stuffed in their backpacks and set by the door. Outfits were hung in the closets with care, knowing that first grade soon would be there......."*

That pretty much summed up our evening! This morning, we woke to an alarm clock (gggrrrrr), and were off to the first day of first grade! I already miss sleeping in and snuggling with the kids - boo, hoo! Would you believe me if I told you I didn't cry? I had to fight it back several times, but I didn't cry. Schuyler displayed minimal normal first-day-of-school jitters and I think was happy to see all her friends in the class setting (since she sees most of them normally). I already miss having her home (she can be a big helper), but she was ready for school (even if she didn't think so).

It will be nice to have my two little ones home, who don't usually complain or whine when asked for help, or when they don't get their way. They are like two peas in a pod and are currently riding up and down the hall naked on their "scooter rides" where they "wreck" on the carpet in our room, falling into a heap!

* From a cute book, changed a little.

You didn't say if Schuyler cried, I remember you said she was not looking forward to it - did that change? I wish I could be a fly on the wall. Loved the 'visual' presented by Morgan and Graydon on their 'bikes'. Enjoy your day!
