Nocturnal Adventurer!

I knew Graydon could crawl in and out of his crib, but he just never really did. The other night put an end to that when Graydon woke up at about 2am and came running down the hall into our room. It was bad timing, because the girls came into our bed at about 1am. We don't have many nights of musical beds, usually everyone is a good sleeper. We tried to get everyone situated and back to sleep and were successful with the girls, but not the Nocturnal Adventurer. No - he was brought back to his bed about five or six times, where he continued to crawl out. In between which we cuddled him until we fell asleep and were awoken again and again by him running around playing. Even on the few nights we have brought him into our bed, he has stayed. Apparently he was going to take full advantage of this new found freedom. The next day after his nocturnal adventure he woke up at 10am. Then his naps have gone something like this:

Nap Day 1: He kept crawling out of his crib. We took the front off to make it a toddler bed (regretting that decision). I guess he was so excited he did not nap (or maybe just wasn't tired from waking up at 10am). He then went to bed that night just fine.

Nap Day 2: He went down for a regular nap where he insisted on wearing his fleece footed jammies he found (yes, it was over 100 degrees out). We heard him playing with everything possible in his room and when it quieted down, this picture is what we found. He then went to bed that night just fine.

Nap Day 3: He went down for a regular nap where we again heard him playing with everything in his room, including a full size oar which we heard banging around the walls. He tried to sneak out a couple of times, but stayed in his room, this picture is what we found. He then went to bed that night just fine. Nap Day 4: What nap? I tried everything and he did not nap. It looked promising as I heard him in there with the oar and some other toys I could identify. Then he starting yelling for me over and over. I tried to lie down with him, I tried to read to him, I tried to rock him. After the fifth or so attempt to combat the no nap, I was sitting at the computer off the kitchen and I heard him open his door and he took off running as fast as he could down the hall to our bedroom. I took him back to his room and he did the same thing a couple of times (it was rather cute in a very frustrating sort of way). I called in the reinforcements for one final attempt, but Schuyler and Morgan had no luck either. So we gave up and went swimming. Then tonight after Curtis put him to bed he came out. When I picked him up he had the biggest pout and his eyes welled up, but then I had the pleasure of rocking him to sleep and just watched him and forgot about these sleep struggles!

Please keep your fingers crossed that he naps better, he is to young to give it up! My sanity will not survive!

Wow, he sure does keep you all busy! What great pictures and memory book you are creating here. Hope you can save these on a dvd for the kids. Good luck on the naps. There is a time they just quit taking them. Love ya, Mom and Ron
