Ouch!

I thought I was being generous when I let Schuyler have two friends over, after the second day of school, for two hours! Her friend Raegan left and she had a melt down. "Schuyler, please be happy that you got to have friends over and don't be upset when Cassie leaves." Cassie left and Schuyler had even more of a melt down (if that was possible). "Schuyler, I am sorry you are upset, but if you don't calm down there will be consequences......... please go to your room if you are going to be so upset.......... last chance.......if you don't calm down you can't go to Raegan's on Friday." She did not calm down, and got Raegan's house taken away, so then she really had a melt down! I heard her scream from her room, "I want a new Mommy because you are the meanest Mommy ever!" OUCH!!!

The Mommy version and the 6 year old version of "you hurt my feelings" is very different. I hurt her feeling by saying she couldn't go to Raegan's (never mind the meltdowns, irrational behavior, and second chances), and she obviously hurt my feelings with her spiteful comment. I didn't take it to much to heart, after all, she is still 6!

It has been far to long since I heard, "you are the best Mommy in the whole wide Mommy world!" Maybe I need to step it up a notch!

Then there is my sweet Morgan who said, "I don't want this cereal. I don't like this cereal. I only like this cereal on Saturdays. Is it Saturday?" I told a little white lie and said, "yes." She then ate her cereal. Another time when talking about Schuyler she said, "she loves me really much!"

And Graydon who says, "Mom, Mom, Mommy, I want that Mom, Mom, I want that." It is so cute and it melts my heart!

2 out of 3 isn't bad odds... Not easy being the Mommy. Lots easier being the Grandma! Love you!
